Tenmile Farm & Retreat

NEW YORK // 2016 - 2022

At the end of the commuter rail form New York City, this thriving young farm has taken up the reins of an old farm and homestead. For almost a decade, the team has been laboring to create a place that aims to deepen our connections to each other, the world around us, and ourselves by reminding us we are all a part of something bigger.

We were involved in the Master Planning process, including exploring ways to modernize and expand the income streams of a working farm such as education, agritourism, and event space. We planned for various levels of guest accommodations and farm stays where folks can visit for multi-day workshops and immerse themselves more fully in the experience.

Nested within the new development, we designed demonstration gardens, outdoor teaching spaces, and incorporated all sorts of useful elements that could be leveraged for use in the kitchen for meals as teaching tools. The aim was to welcome guests and keep them connected to the land regardless of where they were on the property.
